What is DigiFest?
Eastbourne DigiFest is a one-day conference held in Eastbourne. It brings together businesses, professionals, and young people to explore digital innovation, technology, and the future of work. The 2026 event created space for honest conversations about how digital change is shaping careers, creativity, and opportunity.
Voices of Tomorrow
This youth panel, chaired by Ellie Hale, brought together young people from different jobs and organisations to discuss how they are adapting to a world shaped by digital change. The panel shared honest stories about what has worked, what has been challenging, and what they have learned along the way.
The discussion covered university and career routes, entry-level employment, AI, creative work, remote working, and the support young people need to succeed. It gave attendees a direct opportunity to hear youth perspectives on technology, work, and opportunity in a practical and down-to-earth way.
Panel Themes
The Voices of Tomorrow panel explored the real experiences of young people entering work and building careers in a fast-changing digital world. Key topics included:
Careers and Education
- University and Alternative Routes: We compared degree routes with building businesses, freelancing, and learning through hands-on experience.
- Finding Your Path: We discussed how interests, school experiences, hobbies, and new connections can shape a career.
- Entry-Level Jobs: The panel challenged employers who ask for extensive experience or qualifications for junior roles.
- Employer Support: We explained why employers should take chances on talent, provide space to learn, and recognise fresh perspectives.
Technology, AI and Work
- AI and Junior Roles: We raised concerns that AI is reducing entry-level opportunities in IT and tech.
- Human Creativity: We explained why personal stories, collaboration, and detail still matter in creative work.
- Remote Working: The panel discussed access to suitable workspaces, shared housing, and the impact of the housing crisis.
- Building a Portfolio: We shared how visibility, voluntary work, and proof of experience help young creatives gain trust.
Watch the Shorts
We have released a playlist of Shorts covering the main moments from the panel. The clips explore career paths, AI, university, creative work, remote working, and the value young people bring to the workplace.
